Snow, Glaze, & Mulled Wine!

Greetings again!

The above three photos are of the current blizzard conditions we are experiencing this evening! The welcoming lights from our neighbour's house; the beautiful trees draped with snow, the snow laden pathways (which have been shovelled several times), all add to this winter wonderland! The top picture looks like the beaten 'whites of eggs', as in a magnificent meringue! LOL!

The pre-cooked ham with the glaze turned out to be a savoury success! Here is the recipe for those of you that would like to create a refreshing change!

Ham with Mango Chutney Sauce (I did not have the sauce*; instead I substituted a 'Gooseberry Relish')

1 clove garlic, peeled
1 small onion, peeled and diced
1 (9( oz jar mango chutney"
3 TBSP Dijon Mustard
3 TBSP Fresh Orange Juice (I used a frozen OJ)
1/4 C light brown sugar
1/2 tsp grated cloves*
1 (7 to 8 lb fully cooked, spiral-cut ham*

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine garlic, onion, chutney, mustard, juice, sugar, and cloves in food processor, process until smooth.

2) Place ham in heavy roasting pan, lined with heavy foil.
Pour glaze over ham. Cover with heavy foil and bake 1 hour. Remove foil and bake
30 minutes more until ham is golden brown and meat thermometer registers 140
degrees F.

Serves 16.

Tidbit - Methinks any type of tidbitz relish or chutney etc would work. Depends on your tid taste buds! I did not have any cloves either; so I used a bittidz bouquet of 'Wine Mulling Spices' (Cinnamon, Dried orange rind, Allspice, Cloves, Dried lemon rind, Nutmeg).

Bittid - I used a 'stoneware' pan; so did not line foil in pan; save the foil to cover the ham. 300 degrees F for approx an hour; and basting every so often. Then left ham in turned off oven, until closer to dinner time. Wanted to prepare things ahead of time! Then turn oven back on for about 30 to 40 minutes at 350; the last 20 minutes with foil to cover. Just prior to serving, take ham out and let stand for a few minutes, with the foil covering still it. I do not know how big the ham is; methinks it is not as large as 7 lbs; however, more sauce to glaze! The more the merrier! LOL!

Alan sliced the ham extra thin; which made it deliciously delectable. I enjoyed a yam potato (cooked in microwave) with a bit of butter, and Alan appreciated his mashed potatoes. A Caesar Salad, a glass of red vino; and the dinner was just right!

Am glad too, I found the bags of 'Wine Mulling Spices' in our outdoor pantry. The mulled wine will certainly hit the spot during these chilly times!

Peace and God Bless.
