January 1st, 2009! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We woke up to 4 to 5 inches of MORE snow; a winter wonderland revisted during the night! Am thankful too, we do not have to drive anywhere today; as the parking lot looks to be a bit of a disaster! A car was stuck in the tidbitz 'thick of it', thus totally blocking the route, and a tow truck had to remove the vehicle, out of the way. Wonder if that was the same car that only has summer tires!!! Mmmmmmmm. If you wish, you can refer to my post, A 'sage' Saturday, of December 27th, for a bittidz of background.

Earlier, Alan brought me a glass of wonderful champagne, as well as a fresh coffee; however, there is 'something' extra special about delighting in a tid of champagne this morning! Skal!

We enjoyed our 'new' T.V. last night; and a couple of movies; one of them being, 'The Other Boleyn Girl', which offered an interesting perspective. You would have to see the movie for yourselves, to understand what I mean. Have to admit also, we did not tune in to the 'countdown' in New York Times Square; we were engrossed with the movie! Nevertheless, we appreciated one shared glass of 'sparkly bubbly' at midnight! What a difference too, the 'new' T.V. made! (you can refer to yesterday's post, if you wish).

Am glad that January 1st falls on a Thursday this year; methinks most people will take tomorrow as a holiday; thus transforming the days into a 'long weekend'. May have mentioned earlier, that we did receive a few invitations 'out'; however, we are happily staying 'snowbound' in our home! We, like a number of others, will appreciate this upcoming 'long weekend'; and then get back into the 'swing of things', next week!

Alan shovelled snow off the major walk pathway, as well as our neighbours' walkways; so that at least they can safely go out of their front doors. Most of our neighbours are old enough to be our parents; however, they are all lovely people. We no longer have parents; and yet we can have empathy; inasmuch as we have been through the gambit of 'aging' parents. Now that I think about it, we will all be at that bittid stage, some day. Alan's Dad is still alive; however, IS he really? He is 'shelved away' in an old Age Home; and you can refer to my posts, over the past year, if you wish to 'gleen' some tidbit info. It is rather sad; however, as a good Dutch friend of ours says, 'That is the way the cookie crumbles'. We can not win against MALICE, HATE, JEALOUSY, ANGER, etc; however, 'they' (Alan's siblings) will have to answer to Him at the end of the day; and it is not up to us anyway! We leave it ALL to Him to fight (He has already WON!) our battles! All we can do, is FORGIVE and PRAY.

Tidbit - 'Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you'. Plus, 'What goes around, comes around'.

Bittid - ENJOY January 01/09; and CHOOSE to make each and every day of this year, a GOOD day for you! ENJOY, APPRECIATE, KEEP THINGS SIMPLE, and 'PRAISE HIM IN ALL THINGS' - regardless of everything else! That helps us all to get through these tough times!

The above photo is taken of a bit of our living room (now I know how to use the digital camera and download photos - a whole new world! - well, I am still learning the ropes; but am excited about giving you an 'authentic' photo here and there! LOL!). Those are 'buffalo' horns you see over our large exquisite fireplace, and are #9 in the world, or at least, way back when my Dad was alive and pursued his love of both shooting and hunting. His master marksmanship stood him in good stead. Speaking of my Dad, I miss him. We will do an 'Absent Friends' Skal to him, plus to my Mum, to Alan's Mum, and to all those we care about and love - those that have passed away or those still alive, but not physically present here with us (ie. Alan's Dad, and other good friends and family).

Just inhaled a scrumptious breakfast of bacon and eggs, that Alan made for us! He happily offered! (maybe for survival! LOL!). When 'something is genuinely and freely given', graciously accept and appreciate the gift! That is a good piece of tidbitz / bittidz to remember; even with compliments that are genuinely given to you. Instead of 'shying away' and / or making excuses, just be grateful for the kindness, and by saying a simple 'Thank you', is a worthy gift in return.

Skal! 'Absent Friends!' Happy New Year!

God Bless.
