A Potpourri of Blessings!

Good Afternoon, or whatever is the best greeting to you, in your part of the world!

To recap a bittid! The weekend just zoomed by. Saturday found us out a good measure of the day. Had to go out early and then back to meet up with a friend for coffee. Then out again until the latter part of the afternoon, and we were glad to be home to enjoy our tidbit garden in the evening. Thinking it would be a more prudent use of the car and gas, we had 'saved up' a number of errands to do on that day; as in a 'circle route.'

We were all set for our first 'of the season' barbecue of marinated pieces of chicken. Unfortunately, we discovered that our propane tank was empty. However, 'the best laid plans of mice and men' kicked in and Alan ended up making a wonderful rice combination of peppers, onions, and some spices from our garden. That was very tasty with the chicken, that had been marinating for a few days.

It was lovely to hear the various children playing outside, before their parents gave them the final call for bedtime. That reminded me of my childhood. I used to play outdoors and stretched it, until it was absolutely necessary to come in. Of course, I slept like a log and then back at it, all over again the next day!

Also various neighbours came by. One couple invited us for a barbecue in the next tid while, and various dogs dragged and tugged at their leashes for their owners to stop by for treats. It was like 'grand central station.' LOL! Our garden is full of colour and healthy plants; and a lot of our neighbours stop by to just admire all the thriving splendour! The grass is also growing and one of our neighbours just loves the 'greenery' of it all; and is always uplifted when he sees us. We say, 'right back at him.'

Later in the calm of the evening, I came and sat outside and took in the fresh scents and peacefulness of the night. It was at least 70 degrees; and very pleasant. There was a quiet hush, no traffic or noise; save for some brief fireworks in the distance. Most likely, the fireworks were in honour of D-Day. Everything was refreshing; and the trees and plants had an extra special sheen to them. The moon appeared to have a shiny glow around it as well. Even our lamp post was like a mini moon; and that gave me a bittidz of light to write some short notes.

In a tidbitz nutshell, I was appreciative for a full and well spent Saturday. Many tidbits to be thankful for!

Was also reflecting upon two young sisters with two children each, who we met earlier in the day, when we were at Walmart's. Alan helped them with a buggy and then mentioned the tidbit that a child at age five will have learned 50% of everything they are ever going to know! Their brain is a sponge and Alan suggested that they read to their children. ie The Bible, which has so many wonderful stories. The Mums replied with enthusiasm that they do! The sisters were genuinely blown away and joyful; and the next thing you knew, they gave us hugs and said 'Praise the Lord.' They were Christians and they 'discerned' we were as well. Discernment is a Gift given to you, when you are infilled with the Holy Spirit. Very powerful.

The young women were in their 20's and one of them told us of her baby she had lost between her oldest child (age 5) and her 1 year old in the buggy. Apparently, that little one appeared to have had a 'halo' around her, as per some ultra sound tests that had to be done; as the pregnacy was a bit iffy. Turns out, the baby was not only beautiful, but totally healthy! So that evening, I was grateful for having met those lovely young women. As the expression goes: "You shall be known by whom you are." The 'halo' of the moon made me think of the awesome story / testimony of the 'halo' that protected the baby, when it was in its mother's womb.

On Sunday we had some more neighbours drop by and Alan will give them a Braveheart, some cuttings of the gorgeous yellow and white clematis, as well as some mint and oregano. A few even brought over their own planter pots!

Also, a young family of 3 children came by yesterday later afternoon to say hi. They used to live in our complex but moved to a larger home, due to the increase in their family. Sadly their 2 year old brother died a year ago, when he fell out of an upstairs open window, just after their move. Very tragic and struck a heartfelt chord in us all.

We had some Hardy Boy books and some other childrens' books / activity books in our garage and the oldest boy (age 11) wanted to know if we still had the Hardy Boys and if so, he would love to have them. We also had three neat wall hangings that displayed Winnie the Pooh with his honey pot , a Cat, and Raggedy Ann & Andy. The oldest boy liked the Cat and the girl (age 9) liked the Raggedy Ann & Andy, and now the third child, a little boy of 7 loved the Winnie the Pooh one. So for $2.00 they bought the box of the books and the 3 wall hangings.

When we were discussing the price, I said, 'money is not the issue; it is when you pay for something, you have more appreciation for it and you will value it more.' They agreed totally with the message that was being taught. (Alan had discussed it prior with the Mum and she said that they had to pay for it; so everyone was on the same page). They are Christians and they are home-schooled and we enjoyed seeing them. The oldest gave us a lovely compliment saying our house was 'nice', that it had nice antiques; and it was nicely done. I thanked him and at the same time, was amazed at his observation and the wonderful quality comment from such a young age.

Also watched some of my favourite ministries yesterday and they are so helpful with their insights. Will share some bittids at a later date.

Tidbit - Wonderful to enjoy friends / people of all ages. Appreciate their specialness!

Bittid - "Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you."

Alan just came back from shovelling soil. If you shovel it yourself, it is far more economical than buying it retail. He also came home with some 'free' pots that the nursery put in a 'discard' pile. So for those neighbours and friends who do not have the pots, we have them and in abundance!

Here are two photos. One taken on Saturday night for a bittid contrast and the other taken today, showing the regrowth of our plants. One of them being, the lovely Martha Washington. Our 'pet' crow drinks from the blue container that we fill with water for him.

Peace and God Bless.
