Girls lunch out!

Just had a "girls" lunch out! There were 6 of us; and we went to The Sand Bar in Granville Island. Wonderful food; not to mention the view! For those that were brave enough to sit outside, and admire the ever moving water traffic and busy harbour, there were heaters. I had pan fried oysters (soooooooo good!)and a small Caesar salad and a glass of red wine. For dessert, I enjoyed the trio of sorbet,(raspberry, kiwi, mango, with a tidbit of pear sorbet thrown in) along with 2 lemon meringue biscuits! mmmmmmm yum! Three of the ladies twirled noodle salads; one kept digesting over and over again a green veggie salad with hard boiled eggs; (there are the eggs again!- I know that salad was a healthy meal; and yet, it looked totally bland to me! LOL!)and the other lady splurged for crab cakes. We all enjoyed a glass of wine; save for one, who sipped on a vodka tonic. (could not handle that personally; although, it does sound like a refreshing drink).

In all, an excellent outing! After that, we walked around the market; where everything is sooooooooo fresh and good! A treat, indeed! Ended up buying a small but bright bouquet of beautiful spring flowers, and a couple of exotic spices. Must do that again; have not been to the Island for a few years!

Tidbit - Live! Make the most of the day and appreciate all the blessings! And flowers do add a nice touch!

Give from your heart! Found a wonderful gift for my daughter's wedding!

Well, This has certainly been a full day - for a Sunday! Super Bowl and all! (my husband is glued to the sofa, with beer and chips in hand!) I hear the noise, the cheering in the background; however, I am on the computer, which is in our upstairs loft; out of view of the TV area! LOL!

I have been persistent for an hour or so, with trying to log in...to write today's post....however, I have not been successful until now! Do not know quite what happened; maybe I pushed enough buttons - and things automatically just worked! ie old Blogger accounts versus Google accounts, switching from old to new??? merging??? Sounds all very fascinating...if you are computer savvy....which I am definitely NOT! I am self taught; and also my son has exuded his expertise and PATIENCE with me, from time to time, in helping me learn a few more of the ropes...ie he deserves the credit for setting up my Blog. However, I was bound and determined to get somewhere! And finally I did....I'M BACK!!!! LOL!

Am also a dust bin! After looking high and low in our house, I could not locate my passport. I ended up going downstairs to our garage; and that was where I accumulated the dark soot, dust, cobwebs, (hopefully no spiders!) from head to toe. Still no sign of passport...."found" other interesting things instead....as in years of old stuff. When there is a moment, will have to do a thorough clean out/clean up/and organizing of everything...Want to tackle that sooner, rather than later! LOL!. Would like to have our Christmas decorations up for this year! LOL! We moved in the late spring; and the garage was / is totally FULL of boxes etc.

Looks as if I will have to go through the steps of obtaining a new passport. I guess somewhere, somehow, my passport got lost in the move. It is very strange; however, I have made valiant attempts at turning everything upside down to unearth it from "somewhere!" However, I gave it my best; so I will give it a rest. I will call tomorrow and find out what the procedure is; hopefully it will not take too long.

A tidbit just enlightened me! You have to know, when you have tried your best, and when, you have to give it a rest. In other words, you have to know when to call it a day! Hard to do at times; but so true in many incidents.

We found the wedding present for my daughter and her future husband! We LOVE it; and we think they will as well; for many years to come! I do not want to say too much about it, because I would not want to "let the cat out of the bag!" LOL!

Tidbit! Give a gift that you would love to receive as well. It makes you feel so good about giving! Give from your heart!

Enjoy the moment!

Not sure what to write about or where to start today! It seems as if the day has whisked by us AGAIN! errands, etc.

My Daughter is getting married on the 17th Feb. Today, I went to the tailor to get my Mum's dress fitted for that special day. My Mum wore the same dress to my second (and last!) wedding of 4 yrs ago; and she looked totally dynamite in that sparkling dress! I think - "something blue,something new, and something borrowed" is the expression? - so, I am thinking that I will enjoy wearing "our" dress, a few other "borrowed" pieces, and as for the new, well? - possibly new shoes (if I can not become more comfortable with the high heels I already have - which look perfect with "our" dress; but not comfy), new underwear? and "tummy tuck in" stockings! LOL!

Maybe a "tummy tuck in!" period, might be the best solution! LOL! LOL! LOL! My Mum unfortunately passed away in July / 05, from cancer. I miss her - a lot; and wish she was alive to be at the wedding; however, I do feel she will be there "in spirit!" to see her beloved Grand-Daughter walking down the aisle, with the man of her dreams! He and her are a wonderful combination! (My Mum and Dad were married on Dec 10th; as were my husband and I!When my husband proprosed to me, he suggested to me,why don't we pick the same date as your parents!!!) I always liked their / our date! LOL!

Also went looking for the wedding present. Not having much success, thus far! The first gift (which was an awesome idea; and on order for some time!) did not happen; because our friend got a new job; which has taken all of her spare time. Then, we picked something else out,however, that sold. hmmmmm. We know what we would like to give them... however, not easy to find. Do not want to give them money for a wedding gift either. So, we will continue the "hunt" for something special for them.

Glad to be home now. It is pouring with rain; so, we are happy not to have to be going out! The Canucks are playing tonight; so we will cheer them on!

Tidbit - hmmmmm. Enjoy the moment! You live only once....always, always, make the best of things! Turn disappointments (minor and major) and unexpected challenges into wonderful and positive results! And, "tomorrow, is another day!"; so the saying goes. Yet, we are thankful for today!

Am about to go and pour myself a glass of red vino;(in a LARGE glass; so as to breathe in the mellow fragrance in tidbit sips!) cook up some double loin lamb chops, as well as putting together a Greek salad; steaming some red nugget potatoes - in our freshly installed microwave!; and a fresh fruit salad!(marinated with a tidbit of liqueur) mmmmmm. yum!

Tidbit!(maybe for my ears! LOL!) Keep it good, but simple! Eventhough, I will add some seasonings here and there, to spice things up! LOL!

T.G.I.F. Day!

Thank goodness it is Friday! (T.G.I.F.Day) Yahoo!

The day has whirled by us. Started early...phone calls, appointments, the works!

So, when we stopped for a late lunch, we were ready for it! Devoured a superbe omelette! The scrambled eggs were a bright cheery yellow (positive thoughts!) and tasted just right....the omelette contained tidbits of aparagus, shrimp, and mozarella cheese! mmmmmm yum...it was sooooo gooooood! And, I enjoyed my usual lots of pepper on eggs.. Did not have my 3 minute eggs and toast this am; however, the omelette was wonderfully and artistically put together.

Tidbit - "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" - so is it true with food, when presented with a decorative flair! "Food" for thought, so they say; and just what the Doctor ordered!

Had a spinach side salad (mentioned the delicious ingredients in a few blogs ago! ie Lunch Tidbits, January 23rd) and a 1/4 litre of red wine (1.5 glass equivalent); and the wine glass was HUGE. However, the aroma and the bouquet was awesome! I felt as if I had savoured 3 glasses; and that is the way to do it!

Tidbit - Just have one large glass, and you end up drinking very little, but, enjoying it all the more! Perhaps, that is why restaurants provide large glasses; however,not only to encourage the full flavour, but perhaps to splurge for a second glass or two?

Tidbit - appreciate the moments and enjoy!...."food, drink, and be merry!" (within reason) We were able to give thanks and to reflect upon the activities of this past week; and we are happy to say, "T.G.I.F." Day! LOL!
